Challenges, challenges and more challenges!

Yesterday I got got crafty with some of my favourite challenges and a couple that are new to me too.

Today I’m going to virtually craft with my friend Michelle. Pre-COVID we used to craft together monthly in person but with COVID we’ve not been able to; so we’ve decided to give it a go virtually. Usually when we get together it’s more talking than crafty so we shall see what gets made!

First up is a pair of cards for the Twofer Card Challenge #29 – Butterfly.

Twofer requires you make 2 cards with different designs for different occasions using the same stamps. I have a cool butterfly and text stamp in my stash that I inked up twice and did some ink smooshed on 1 image and marker colouring on the other. I then cut a circle from the 2nd to fit the different design requirement. Sentiments are from the Ton and are for a thinking of you and birthday themes.

This is the 2 cards together.

Next is a card for Just Add Ink #514, which is a colour challenge.

I love these colours together and knew it would look fabulous with the new Stampin Up Many Layered Blossoms Dies. I die cut the base flowers from the Pretty Peacock cardstock, then the top flowers from the Pool Party cardstock, then I sponged behind with the Smoky Slate ink to fill in some of the flowers.

As you can see, I positioned the dies cuts over 2 card fronts and then separated them to make 2 cards.

Next is a pair of cards for 2 challenges with similar themes with stripes:

I used a die from Neat & Tangled ‘stripes coverplate’ for both cards to look like zebra stripes and the tee-shirt. I then added the zebra from Katzelkraft ‘les jungles’ on one card and a vellum peony from Stampin Up ‘Prized peony’ on the other. Sentiments are from Create a Smile ‘Shit happens’ and the Ton ‘Birthday strips’.

The SoSS card
The TLC card.

My last card is for 6 challenges:

I don’t usually combine that many challenges, but in this case they just fitted together!

I ink smooshed a background with my Kaleidacolor ‘Denim’ ink pad and created a stencil with a fishing die and sponged that stencil with my black ink. Who doesn’t find fishing peaceful and a great activity to do during my favourite season of Summer. I love getting into the outdoors and fishing at either sunrise or dusk is such a peaceful experience.

Thanks for stopping by and looking. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  1. What wonderful cards. I did spot your fabulously colourful butterfly cards in the Twofer gallery when I was linking up my own project. The elegant flower cards – what a beautiful colour combo and your design uses it perfectly- love that you got two from it. You have made the perfect take on The Library challenge with those stripes…your card design is so funny and cute and cannot fail to raise a smile. Thanks for joining The Library. Hope you have fun in your virtual crafting.

  2. Ha..you blinded me with so many lovely cards that I didn’t even see the flower one! Not just the stripes but also the peachy colour from the book cover – so pretty and I always think stripes give flowers a modern twist. Thanks for joining The Library.

  3. You’ve spoiled us with so many wonderful works of card art, Tristan! Each one is really remarkable and inspiring! You’ve used s a cool collage butterfly/text stamp for your Twofer cards. A simple sediment strip on each is all that is needed with so much eye candy on the stamp itself! I also love your Split 2 design as a clever way to get two cards for the price of one. And your stripey cards are great fun, but I think my favorite of all is the fishing boat silhouette you created to take the stage in front of the most amazing bit of smooching I’ve seen! WOW! The scene perfectly evokes the serenity of early morning lake fishing! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #29. Keep well! Hugs, Darnell

  4. WOW! You have been busy Tristan. Gorgeous cards for all the challenges. For CAS Mix Up, the challenge is Stencil tracing which means you need to outline your stencil with a complimentary pen so that it shows. Your card is gorgeous with the stormy sky and beautiful silhouette images. But the stenciled images do need to be outlined to qualify for CMU. Thanks.

  6. Goodness, you’ve been so productive, Tristan … what a fabulous collection of cards! Your twofer designs are so pretty … the soft pastels on the first card are dreamy and serene … perfect to let someone know you’re thinking of them. The CASness of the birthday card is delicious … the bold colours on the butterfly really pop against all that yummy white space! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita 🙂

  11. So many wonderful cards, and I love how you were inspired by the challenges to create such a variety! Your twofer cards are both beautiful! Great idea to spotlight part of the stamp in the circle and give it bright, bold colors. Your wash of pastel colors is a perfect way to highlight that full stamp! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
