A trio of cards

Well it’s a lovely sunny Sunday here in Melbourne, quite a contrast from the past two days. We had a wicked wind storm come through Thursday night into early Friday morning, which saw trees down and power lines broken; as a result we lost our power – not a great thing when we’re in Spring and the temperature has been fluctuating from 12 to 28!

So Friday with no power, no internet and no heating was a challenging day; I wasn’t able to work, craft or use my mobile to surf the net as I needed to conserve what battery I had left. Thankfully we have a fire place and some wood left over from Winter to have a fire to help us keep warm.

I had my fingers crossed that Saturday we’d wake up and be connected again – no such luck! Fortunately not all out house is electric, we’ve got a gas cook top and gas hot water so at least we could have a cuppa coffee and a shower but that was about it. We had an update from the power company that we could expect our power to be restored at midnight on the 31st! That would be three days without power – fortunately it was restored around 4pm on Saturday night so we could start charging devices and dealing with our lost food and frozen items.

What I really missed in this short time was getting crafty. So despite the weather being lovely outside tday, I decided to make some cards.

Firstly is a card for The Male Room #155 – Black & White.

I used a stamp from Impression Obsession and a sentiment from Uniquely Creative and kept this card super CAS.

Next is a card for Seize the Birthday #226 – Make a Sunset Scene.

For this card I sponged a sunset sky with Catherine Pooler Design inks in Catching Rays, Orange Twist, Flame, Eucalyptus and Martini. Then stamped the scene using Altenew ‘Let’s go’ with a sentiment from SSS ‘Celebrate You’.

Lastly is a card for Shopping Our Stash #457 – You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.

For this card I used Catherine Pooler Design inks in Grape Crush, Drive-In and Queen for a Day for the background using a stamp from Stampin Up ‘Artistically Inked’ and then added an outline flower from Uniquely Creative ‘Spring Bouquet’.

Well that’s it for today. I’m off to the supermarket to restock my fridge and freezer. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
