WWC#198 – Gail’s ‘All About Holidays’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Our hostess this week is Gail with a holiday themed challenge – the holiday is totally up to you!

WWC198_logo

I’m still all about making Christmas themed cards and decided to make a monochrome version. I used a stamp set from Stampin Up called ‘Beautiful Baubles’ stamped in Basic Black with bits coloured with a silver Wink of Stella (IRL it’s very sparkly). I fussy cut the baubles out, stamped the sentiment on a banner and popped them up with dimensionals. I added some silver foil cardstock behind the main panel and the card was done.

WWC#197 – Kath’s ‘Anything Goes Masculine’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Kath is our hostess this week with an anything goes masculine challenge.

Since I’ve been joining these challenges and now being on the DT, I no longer seem to struggle as much when making a card for a guy.

For this card I used a stamp set I got with a magazine called ‘For the boys’ by Clear Impressions. I stamped components of the motorcycle image and coloured some areas with my Stampin Blends in Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black. I used an embossing folder for some texture behind the panels which are mounted on Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment is punched using an old Stampin Up tag/label punch. I also added a few grey gems for just a touch of bling.

3 card, 8 challenge kinda day!

You all know I like playing with challenges and it’s no surprise I try to combine them when I can. This weekend I found 8 challenges that I wanted to join in and was able to make 3 cards that fit the bill – way to maximise my crafty time!

First up is a card for:

I’m loving the range of CHristmas stamps that Stampin Up brought out this year and this the set I used for this card is so adorable and ‘punny’; it’s called So Santa. I stamped Santa and then coloured him with my Stampin blends, punched him out and added him with some dimensionals over a few strips of Santa’s workshop DSP, banner cut the sentiment and this card was done! Wouldn’t it be funny seeing Santa delivering via scooter – LOL

Next up is a card for:

I used another Stampin Up set called ‘First Frost’ that I stamped in Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss inks. This set has a watercoloury look to it and is so versatile. I love the soft feminine look you can achieve. I used the Tin Tile embossing folder for some texture behind my sentiment panel. My special occasion is Christmas  – I love this time of year but this year may be a bitter-sweet one as it might be my mum’s last one with us but I’m praying that they might find a treatment that holds her cancer at bay so we can get more time with her.

Lastly is a card for:

I love the JUGs colour scheme and thought I’d make a bright and happy birthday card. I have a great sentiment set from Mama Elephant called ‘Make a Wish’ that is perfect for the big, bold sentiment challenge and I used the Happy Birthday to You sentiment as my main focal point of the sketch, which is ink smooshed with Stampin Up Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch inks. I added a couple of black pen lines, a couple of stars and a thin line of turquoise card stock as a mat and the card was done.

I need sooooo many more Christmas card, so made another one for this challenge. I used a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘Festive Trees’ inked up in Stampin Up Granny Apple Gree, Momento Tuxedo Black and Brilliance Galaxy Gold. I added some gold glitter paper fo that extra sparkle and the card was done. Nice and CAS don’t you think?

Procraftination

I should be getting ready for school camp – I’m going along as a parent helper on Miss K’s grade 6 camp to Sovereign Hill – but here I am crafting – a lot more fun don’t you think?

My first card is for a pair of challenges:

I made a card with my alcohol inks, some Nuvo gold flakes and a sentiment from Sunny Studio called ‘Born to Sparkle’ which I thinks fits the compliment theme beautifully.

Next up is a card for a trio of challenges:

I used a long forgotten stamp from Mandy McCarthy called ‘Party Time’ which I coloured in with my Stampin Blends (I went outside the lines on some areas just so you could see the colour rather than black lines). The sentiment is from a Stampin Up set called ‘Itty Bitty Birthdays’ that will be coming out in the new Occasions Catalogue (I was lucky enough to win a set at Stampin Up 30th Anniversary OnStage yesterday).

Lastly a card for a single challenge:

I made a OLC using a stamp set I picked up at a garage sale – no packaging so don’t know where it’s from (sorry). I stamped it in Stampin Up Basic Black and Merry Merlot inks. Added a bit of twine to the top and I was done.

So there you go, 3 really different cards. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

WWC#195 – Charlotte’s Feminine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Charlotte is our host with a feminine anything goes challenge.

WWC195

My card today is using a set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘Beautiful  Flowers’ which I stamped on white cardstock in black ink and yellow cardstock in SU Daffodil Delight (hard to see the same colour contrast in the photo but IRL it’s very subtle). I coloured the white image with my Stampin Up Blends in Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green. I white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of black cardstock, added some sequins and my card was done.

More cards from the weekend

Well I couldn’t sleep last night so decided to take advantage of my insomnia and make some more cards!

First up is a card for 2 challenges:

I loved the simplicity of the sketch, so created a simple OLC using CAS-ual Fridays ‘Love Notes’ stamped in black and red inks.

IMG_1044.jpg

Told you it was simple!

Next is a card for another 2 challenges:

I wanted to make a card to give to one of my mother’s good friends who has been a pillar of support to me and my mum while my mum is on her cancer journey, without her I don’t think either of us would be coping well right now.

I was inspired by a card I saw over on Su Mohr’s blog but changed up the sentiment, colours and papers. I used a Stampin Up set called ‘Hand Delivered’ and Painted Blooms DSP. I did some paper piecing for the skirt and die cut the remaining THNKS from the DSP. The flowers were coloured with my Stampin Blends in Blackberry Bliss and Pink Pirouette.

Now for something a little bit lighter….. a card for 2 more challenges:

I love the blue and white colour scheme and little bird on Becca’s card at MUSE Christmas Visions so used these as the basis for my card. I used a bird from Katzelkraft’s set ‘Les Piafs Russes’ and hat from Stampers Anonymous “Crazy Things’ which I water coloured in, added some puffy paint for the trim, created the sentiment I created on my PC and added a vellum swirly leaf. This birdie makes me smile.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Challenge Crafting

Hello there – today I had a few hours to myself to get into my craft room and managed to make 3 cards after a number of false starts.

My first card is for the challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches.

CasColours295_logo.png

This week it’s a colour and sketch challenge. I used one of my favourite sets by Simon Says Stamp called ‘Beautiful Flowers’ which I stamped in black on an ink smooshed background panel. I used Stampin Up inks in Gumball Green and Midnight Muse and mounted the floral panel on some Raspberry Ripple card stock.

IMG_1032

Next up is a masculine card for The Male Room Challenge to use tools on your card.

TMC97_logo

I used a set from Stampin Up called ‘Nailed it’ and created an image that looks like the hammer is in slow motion (4th dimension stamping). Nice and simple. I coloured the hammer in with my Stampin Blends in Midnight Muse.

IMG_1031.jpg

Lastly is a card for the current Seize the Birthday challenge with a toppings theme of foliage.

Seixe_the_Birthday_Toppings_logo

I used a leaf background stamp from Penny Black called ‘Fronds’ which is inked in Catherine Pooler Designs Grass Skirt ink on an ink smooshed background panel of Lime Rickey. The sentiment is from Altenew called ‘Label Love” stamped in black and mounted with foam tape.

I really like how this one came out – it feels very tropical.

Well that’s it for today, thanks for looking and enjoy your day.
