A trio of cards

Well it’s a lovely sunny Sunday here in Melbourne, quite a contrast from the past two days. We had a wicked wind storm come through Thursday night into early Friday morning, which saw trees down and power lines broken; as a result we lost our power – not a great thing when we’re in Spring and the temperature has been fluctuating from 12 to 28!

So Friday with no power, no internet and no heating was a challenging day; I wasn’t able to work, craft or use my mobile to surf the net as I needed to conserve what battery I had left. Thankfully we have a fire place and some wood left over from Winter to have a fire to help us keep warm.

I had my fingers crossed that Saturday we’d wake up and be connected again – no such luck! Fortunately not all out house is electric, we’ve got a gas cook top and gas hot water so at least we could have a cuppa coffee and a shower but that was about it. We had an update from the power company that we could expect our power to be restored at midnight on the 31st! That would be three days without power – fortunately it was restored around 4pm on Saturday night so we could start charging devices and dealing with our lost food and frozen items.

What I really missed in this short time was getting crafty. So despite the weather being lovely outside tday, I decided to make some cards.

Firstly is a card for The Male Room #155 – Black & White.

I used a stamp from Impression Obsession and a sentiment from Uniquely Creative and kept this card super CAS.

Next is a card for Seize the Birthday #226 – Make a Sunset Scene.

For this card I sponged a sunset sky with Catherine Pooler Design inks in Catching Rays, Orange Twist, Flame, Eucalyptus and Martini. Then stamped the scene using Altenew ‘Let’s go’ with a sentiment from SSS ‘Celebrate You’.

Lastly is a card for Shopping Our Stash #457 – You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.

For this card I used Catherine Pooler Design inks in Grape Crush, Drive-In and Queen for a Day for the background using a stamp from Stampin Up ‘Artistically Inked’ and then added an outline flower from Uniquely Creative ‘Spring Bouquet’.

Well that’s it for today. I’m off to the supermarket to restock my fridge and freezer. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Just Add Ink #578 – Sketch

Hello there, it’s time for another Just Add Ink Challenge and do we have a great sketch for you!

I used Stampin Up Fine Art Floral DSP for the background of my card. I then die cut a white panel for my sentiment from Simon Says Stamp ‘Happy & Smile’. I then stamped and coloured a flower and leaves from ‘Forever & Always’ by SU to be the circle elements in the sketch.

Come join in the fun; we’d love to see how you were inspired. Check out the projects that the other artists at Just Add Ink have created, take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Wednesday, 3rd November at 10pm (AEST) Australian Eastern Standard Time to link up your project.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Fusion: Typewritten Thanks

Hello there, it’s time for another Fusion Challenge and do we have a great sketch and inspirational photo for you!

I decided to fuse the sketch, the sentiment and the colours from the inspiration photo. I stamped the word thanks multiple times from the Stampin Up set ‘Biggest Wish’ in Polished Pink and then in a different font in black. I then coloured and fussy cut out a flower from the ‘True Love’ DSP.

Come join in the fun and make a card based on the sketch, inspiration photo or fuse them together and play with both! Check out the projects that the other artists at Fusion have created, take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Wednesday, 11th November at 5pm Melbourne Time or Tuesday 10th November 12pm US Pacific Time to link up your project.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

3 Cards 9 Challenges!

I found a little bit of time to craft yesterday while my daughter Miss K was busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen. She’s been really inspired to cook during lockdown #6 and who am I to stop her?!

First is a card for:

For my card, I created an AI background panel with 3 different pink AIs, popped up a sentiment from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps and added a Tim Holtz snarky cat.

Next is a card for:

I created another AI background panel, this time with 2 different red AIs. I added this on top of a kraft card base with a gold die cut reindeer bell, a thread bow and a sentiment from Uniquely Creative.

My last card is for:

I used a star die to create a stencil and then stamped and coloured a flower from the SSS ‘Beautiful Flowers’ set with my Stampin Blends through the stencil shape.

Well that’s it for today. We’re off to see my father now that lockdown #6 has ended here in Melbourne. Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Case Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton

I’m thrilled to have been asked by Michelle Lupton to join her in her Case Me a Christmas Card series again this year.

Michelle has asked lots of friends in blogland to CASE one of her cards and make it with a Christmas twist and she in turn will CASE one of our cards   I played along last year which was heaps of fun. For her challenge this year, I chose this adorable card she made back in September 2021.

(image shared and CASed with permission from Michelle)

I was inspireed by the layout, the masking, the stencilled colour lifting and the girl on the edge. I chose to use a tree die for my shape and 3 different green inks and I lifted the colour through an Uniquely Creative star stencil. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and the gnome from Simon Says Stamp.

Well thanks for stopping by for a look and I hope we’ve inspired you to think about taking inspiration from and CASEing a fellow crafter!

  • Random – Wood – I used a wooden peg to hold my pocket closed
