World Card Making Day creations

arning warning warning – this is a long post – LOL!

I love WCMD events. They help me in getting my creative hat on.

This weekend I’ve been playing along with the WCMD challenges over on Stamp Nation with Catherine Pooler and her fabulous creative team plus I thought I’d try to tie them into my usual crafty challenges I join.

First up is a card for England. Catherine created a mood board for inspiration and I used the current CASology theme of gratitude for my sentiment.

Casology315_logo

I was inspired by the chalkboard outside the shop for my card. I used an Altenew set called ‘You Are’ for my image on the blackboard and a variety of Stampin Up DSPs for the banner.

IMG_0782.jpg

Next up is Hungary. Kelly provided the mood board for this one and I’m also tying this into the current challenges over at Muse Christmas Visions with Cornelia’s card and The Male Room challenge.

I was inspired by the Hungarian flag colours in Kelly’s board, the trees in Cornelia’s card and the outdoor theme in the Male Room challenge. I made my own tree stamp with a die cut and some foam which I inked up in Catherine Pooler inks in Garden Party, Lime Rickey and Grass Skirt and spritzed with water after stamping. The merry die is from Stampin Up.

Next up is a card for Portugal. This time we have a mood board from Mel. I’m combining this card with the sketch challenge over at MFT and the theme at Just Add Ink to add vellum to your card.

I love the palm trees and greens in Mel’s board so created a bit of a background piece of inked smooshed greens and then added my vellum panel over the top matching the sketch (which I flipped upside down) with a hammock and palm trees die replacing the sentiment.

IMG_0785.jpg

Next up is a card for Hawaii, inspired by Laurel’s mood board and the sketch over at Case this Sketch.

CTS292_logo

I love the sunset photo, so thought I’d create a bit of sunset in the banner area of the sketch. I used all the oranges in the Catherine Pooler ink range and a sentiment from the MFT ‘All About You’ set.

IMG_0786.jpg

Next up is a mood board for Canada by the lovely Susan. I was inspired by the birds on the totem poles so think I can also link my card to the October CAS Christmas challenge which is all about birds. Last time I visited Canada it was snowing so I’ve added a snowflake to my card as well.

CASChristmas_October_logo

I used a bird from Katzelkraft ‘Les Piafs Russes’ with a santa hat from Tim Holtz ‘Crazy Things’ which I watercoloured and added some pufy paint to the trim on the hat. I then ink smooshed a die cut snowflake for my bird to sit on.

IMG_0787.jpg

Next on the WCMD challenge is Italy inspired by a mood board by Ingrid. I’m linking this card up with the current challenge over at CAS on Ftidays which is all about a thank you card.

CAS_on_Friday_logo

I love the picture of the lemons, so went to a stamp set by Altenew called ‘Main Squeeze’ and my Stampin Up inks in the yellow family. I love how simple and bright this card it.

IMG_0788.jpg

Next up is my card for the Macedonia mood board created by Ilina. I was inspired by the orange and yellow in the national flag of Macedonia. I went straight for my alcohol inks and created a background piece, I dabbed dots of the blending solution to mimic the look of  the sunrays and then a bit of gold Nuvo flakes for some bling. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays called ‘Woot woot’.

IMG_0789.jpg

Lastly for this very long post is a card for Switzerland with a mood board by Erika and I think my card will also fit the challenge over at The Paper Players. I love Erika’s pictures showcasing the beautiful trees and mountains of Switzerland and certaily have it on my bucket list to visit.

PP413_logo

I heat embossed an image from Darkroom Door called ‘Central Park’ which is messily water coloured, mounted on some green and then black cardstock and added a bit of twine to balance the layout. I’ll be adding this card to my male card stash.

Thanks for perservering with this long post and I hope you got a chance to get crafty this Word Card Making weekend.

WWC #190 – Gail’s Feminine ‘Anything Goes’Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. The lovely Gail is our host of a feminine anything goes challenge.

WWC190_logo.jpg

I went for a rather simple, yet I think, classy look for my card.  I used a long forgotten Stampin Up stamp called ‘En Francais’, it’s a gorgeous script stamp and I think perfect for this challenge. I stamped it in black on SU Whisper White cardstock. Trimmed it down and mounted on a panel of SU Lovely Lipstick cardstock then Basic Black cardbase. I added some SU Lovely Lipstick ribbon for that finishing feminine touch.

Public Holiday Crafting

Today we have a public holiday so we can get ready for the AFL Grand Final; I’m not sure a day off is warranted for a football game but I’ll take it – LOL!

I love to play with card layouts. They are great jumping off point when I am creating a card. My first card is using The Paper Players sketch and Addicted to CAS theme.

I used stamp sets from Altenew ‘Birthday Greetings’, Paper Smooches ‘Chubby Chums’ and DSP from Catherine Pooler Designs ‘Black Tie Gala’. I stamped the chick (tweet) for my main image and water coloured her in. Then I stamped the sentiment along the edge of the DSP to match the sketch. Nice and CAS don’t you think?

IMG_0736.jpg

Another sketch inspired card. This time from Freshly Made Sketches.

FMS356_logo

I loved this sketch and it lends itself to another Christmas card for my stash. I used a retired stamp set from Clearly Besotted ‘Modern Christmas’ and stamped 3 of the trees across the centre of my card in Catherine Pooler Designs ink Lime Rickey. I then stamped the sentiment in Memento black ink across the centre of the panel to match the sketch and I was done.

IMG_0737.jpg

Next up is a card for the current MUSE challenge where my good friend Michelle is the muse.

MUSE284_logo

I loved her layout and colour scheme, that pink really makes that flower pop off the card.  I’m on a roll with making Christmas cards, so used Michelle’s layout and colour scheme for my card. I used the tree from the Altenew set ‘Sketched Evergreen’ inked up with Stampin Up Pink Pirouette, Lovely Lipstick and Basic Black. I added a little strip of black and white DSP on the base and a bit of black and white twine on the top for balance.

IMG_0738.jpg

My last card for the day is another sketch based card this time from CAS Colours & Sketches.

CASsketch291_logo.PNG

I was inspired to make another Christmas card for my stash using a set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘Christmas Squad’. I stamped the Santa and hearts then coloured them with my alcohol markers. Fussy cut them out, added some puffy paint for the fur on Santa’s suit and some diamond glaze to the hearts. Popped them up with dimensionals and added the sentiment and my card was done.

WWC189 – Heidi’s ‘All About Holidays’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. This week it’s Heidi’s turn to host the ‘All About Holidays’ Challenge.

WWC189_logo_1.jpg

This week I have made another Christmas card for my stash. I am still nowhere near my 120 cards required, but I’ll keep plugging away!

I used a stamp set from Verve called ‘Ornamental Christmas’ for my sentiment and a miscellaneous deer die for my main image in shiny gold cardstock. I sponged Catherine Pooler Designs ‘Rockin’ Red’ ink behind the deer, spritzed it with a bit of water to soften the edges and added a few sequins for some extra bling. I mounted the main panel on some Stampin Up ‘Mossy Meadow’ cardstock then onto a ‘Whisper White’ base.

Just Add “K”

Today I’m playing with a challenge on the Just Add Ink blog which is all about the letter “K”. Yep, you can be inspired by Kris Kringle, kraft, kits, a stamp set starting with ‘k’ and so on.

Just_Add_Inl_427_logo

I was inspired to use a “kit” from MFT called ‘Bunch of Balloons’. I die cut the balloons in a variety of rainbow coloured card stock, popped some up with dimensional, added some hand drawn string, used a sentiment from Altenew’s ‘Label Love’ set and finally added some striped DSP to the bottom of the card and I was done!

IMG_0726

This was my first time playing with this challenge blog and it won’t be my last. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Weekend Cards

Today I had a bit of a play before I went to see Mamma Mia at the theatre with my mother and Miss K.

First up is a card for the current MUSE challenge.  Kim is the muse this week with an adorable hippo card.

MUSE29_logo

I loved the pink, white and grey colour scheme along with the animal layout, so went for a stamp set by MFT called ‘BB Polar Bear Pals’ coloured with my alcohol markers.

IMG_0693.jpg

Next up is a card for the current challenge on the CASology blog. This challenge is all about dresses so I pulled out a Unity Stamp Co monthly kit from May 2014 called ‘Hey Girl’.

CASology313_logo.jpg

I stamped the hanging dresses with Momento Black ink and coloured in with my Stampin Blends in a variety of pinks. I just wanted to colour one dress so it became the focal point.

IMG_0700.jpg

Next is a card for the current Male Room Challenge which is to use geometrics on your card.

TMR94_logo

I used a stamp set I borrowed from my friend Michelle by Catherine Pooler Designs called ‘Stained Glass’ which I coloured portions in with my Zig markers. I was going to do more colouring but decided that it might become too busy so stuck with the monochrome blue look. The sentiment is from Altenew called ‘Birthday Greetings’ and I mounted the geometric panel of a couple of layers of blue cardstock.

IMG_0701.jpg

Well that’s it for this weekend. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

WWC 188 – Helen’s Masculine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

WWC188_logo

I love this time of the month where I get inspired to make a masculine card.  I have quite a few family members who like to fish, so pulled out a Close to my Heart set called ‘Let’s go fishing’ and got stamping.  I decided to create a scene where we see the fish just about to be hooked!

I use Stampin Up inks in Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Lucky Limeade. The seaweed is from a Unity Stamp Co set called ‘Fishy Philosophy’. I used Mossy Meadow and used 3rd generation stamping for the colour variation.

WWC187 Kath’s ‘All About Occasions’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Kath is hosting the All About Occasions Challenge this week.  I recently got invited to a Halloween Party, so thought that was a good occasion for me to get crafty with.

WWC187_logo

For my card I decided to do some masked sponging. I got out my Catherine Pooler ‘Sugared Lavender’ ink and sponged up a white panel, a bit heavier on the edges. I then stamped the black cat and leaves in Momento ink from the ‘Autumnal Leaves’ stamp set I got with a papercrafting magazine.

I mounted this panel on some black and then onto another panel with the edges sponged in the same ink and finally onto a white card base.

Weekend Crafting

So glad to be back in my craft room today – I’ve been sick in bed for the past 4 days binge watching ‘Jane the Virgin’ on Netflix. So it’s nice to be upright and making something.

First up is a card for the current MUSE challenge where the lovely Anita provided some stenciling inspiration.

Here’s Anita’s card: MUSE281_logo I was inspired by the female stencil she used and the non-traditional colours of her hair.

I used a stencil I’ve had for over a year but not inked up yet by Scrap FX called ‘Vogue Girl’ which I sponged in Distress Inks in Black Soot, Seedless Preserves and Wilted Violet. I then stamped a sentiment from the Ton called ‘Born Classy’ and my OLC was done!

IMG_0645.jpg

Next up is a card fitting 3 challenges:

  • Just Add Ink #425 – photo inspiration
  • The Flower Challenge #24 – Anything Goes
  • Fusion – Daisies

I loved the layout of the Fusion challenge and the soft looking flowers and leaves of the Just Add Ink challenge so got inky with a stamp set from Catherine Pooler Designs called ‘Best in You’ and used a variety of CPD inks and the sentiment s from PTI ‘ Stylish sentiments: Birthday’ and the DSP is from MFT 6×6 pad Black & White Stripes.

IMG_0646.jpg

Lastly is my card for the challenges at AAA Cards & the Alphabet Challenge Blog.

I love the simplicity of the AAA Cards sketch and the Alphabet challenge is all about leaves for the letter ‘L’.

I used my alcohol inks in aqua and purple twilight on a panel behind my circle negative. I added a little bit of Nuvo silver gilding flakes and die cut a couple of leaves; added a sentiment from a discontinued Fresh Squeezed Stamps set called ‘Words to live by’ and popped my card panel onto a white card base.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

WWC186 Feminine Anything Goes Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This time Marsha is our hostess with a feminine card challenge.

39580500_10216137624448736_6001340614241681408_n (1).jpg

I have a friend that’s going through a bit of a rough time at the moment so decided to make a card for her. I have stamp from Technique Junkies called ‘Fluff Your Tutu’ that was the perfect choice to cheer her up. I stamped it up in Momento Black, coloured her legs with my Stampin Blend in Lovely Lipstick, added some netting for the tutu and coloured the shoes in with my gold Wink of Stella.

When squeezing the Wink of Stella, I dropped a blob of gold on my card, and rather than start all over again, I decided to add more blobs of splatter to the card panel.
