WWC 188 – Helen’s Masculine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

WWC188_logo

I love this time of the month where I get inspired to make a masculine card.  I have quite a few family members who like to fish, so pulled out a Close to my Heart set called ‘Let’s go fishing’ and got stamping.  I decided to create a scene where we see the fish just about to be hooked!

I use Stampin Up inks in Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Lucky Limeade. The seaweed is from a Unity Stamp Co set called ‘Fishy Philosophy’. I used Mossy Meadow and used 3rd generation stamping for the colour variation.

WWC187 Kath’s ‘All About Occasions’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Kath is hosting the All About Occasions Challenge this week.  I recently got invited to a Halloween Party, so thought that was a good occasion for me to get crafty with.

For my card I decided to do some masked sponging. I got out my Catherine Pooler ‘Sugared Lavender’ ink and sponged up a white panel, a bit heavier on the edges. I then stamped the black cat and leaves in Momento ink from the ‘Autumnal Leaves’ stamp set I got with a papercrafting magazine.

I mounted this panel on some black and then onto another panel with the edges sponged in the same ink and finally onto a white card base.

Weekend Crafting

So glad to be back in my craft room today – I’ve been sick in bed for the past 4 days binge watching ‘Jane the Virgin’ on Netflix. So it’s nice to be upright and making something.

First up is a card for the current MUSE challenge where the lovely Anita provided some stenciling inspiration.

Here’s Anita’s card: MUSE281_logo I was inspired by the female stencil she used and the non-traditional colours of her hair.

I used a stencil I’ve had for over a year but not inked up yet by Scrap FX called ‘Vogue Girl’ which I sponged in Distress Inks in Black Soot, Seedless Preserves and Wilted Violet. I then stamped a sentiment from the Ton called ‘Born Classy’ and my OLC was done!

IMG_0645.jpg

Next up is a card fitting 3 challenges:

  • Just Add Ink #425 – photo inspiration
  • The Flower Challenge #24 – Anything Goes
  • Fusion – Daisies

I loved the layout of the Fusion challenge and the soft looking flowers and leaves of the Just Add Ink challenge so got inky with a stamp set from Catherine Pooler Designs called ‘Best in You’ and used a variety of CPD inks and the sentiment s from PTI ‘ Stylish sentiments: Birthday’ and the DSP is from MFT 6×6 pad Black & White Stripes.

IMG_0646.jpg

Lastly is my card for the challenges at AAA Cards & the Alphabet Challenge Blog.

I love the simplicity of the AAA Cards sketch and the Alphabet challenge is all about leaves for the letter ‘L’.

I used my alcohol inks in aqua and purple twilight on a panel behind my circle negative. I added a little bit of Nuvo silver gilding flakes and die cut a couple of leaves; added a sentiment from a discontinued Fresh Squeezed Stamps set called ‘Words to live by’ and popped my card panel onto a white card base.

WWC186 Feminine Anything Goes Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This time Marsha is our hostess with a feminine card challenge.

I have a friend that’s going through a bit of a rough time at the moment so decided to make a card for her. I have stamp from Technique Junkies called ‘Fluff Your Tutu’ that was the perfect choice to cheer her up. I stamped it up in Momento Black, coloured her legs with my Stampin Blend in Lovely Lipstick, added some netting for the tutu and coloured the shoes in with my gold Wink of Stella.

When squeezing the Wink of Stella, I dropped a blob of gold on my card, and rather than start all over again, I decided to add more blobs of splatter to the card panel.

I’m pretty happy with how this card came together and know it will make my friend’s day when she gets this in the mail. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Celebrate

Today I have 2 cards for 4 challenges:

My first card is for the JUGS & CTS challenges. I used a sentiment set from CAS-ual Fridays called ‘Celebrate” and the goat from Simon Says Stamp set ‘Birthday Farm Animals’ which I had in my pre-coloured stash ready for a quick card. This will be sent to my nephew who’s birthday is this coming Thursday.

IMG_0626.jpg

My second card is for the CFC and LIM challenges. I used the same CAS-ual Fridays ‘Celebrate’ stamp and the ‘Pretty Posies’ set which I heat embossed in Stampin Up Tempting Turquoise embossing powder. This card will be sent to one of my crafty friends whose birthday is on the 14th.

Two super quick and easy cards and suiting my CAS style perfectly.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Calling All Sistahs

Today’s card was inspired by the current challenge over at Calling All Sistahs.

As you may know from previous posts, my mother is currently battling pancreatic cancer, so these challenges are close to my heart and I long for a day that they discover a cure but for my mother it may be too late.

CAS16_logo

I decided to use a stamp that has been languishing at the back of my stamp collection, Stampin Up’s Swallowtail. I stamped it in Versamark and used a Lindy’s Stamp Gang EP called ‘Angel Wings Gold’. It has a stunning goldish shimmer when you angle the card in the sunshine. I than wet my card front and added some Colour Bursts in Indigo and Orchid. I love using these powders but must admit I struggle to keep myself and my work surface clean when I do so!

My sentiment is from a set by CAS-ual Fridays called ‘Sassy Smiles’ and I hope it encourages my mum to continue to be strong.
Thanks for looking and have a great day.

WWC185 Anything Goes Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. This time you can make any type of card that tickles your fancy – LOL!

35226192_10215629113096270_2930123888736075776_n.jpg

Now, my daughter, Miss K, is heading off to a friend’s 12th birthday and needed a card that could also double as a gift card holder. What’s a mother to do? Make a slider card that hides the gift card – that’s what!

Now I’m not sure if you’ve had a go at this style card but it’s surprisingly easy and looks the bomb diggity.

IMG_0417.jpg

What you’ll need:

  • Thick cardstock for you base 14.8cm x 21cm scored at 10.5cm
  • A black piece cardstock 14.8cm x 10.5cm
  • DSP 14.3cm x 10cm (I used SU Festive Birthday DSP)
  • Tab piece of cardstock matching the card base 8cm x 12.8cm
  • Ribbon 4cm
  • 1″ circle punch (for the notch in the pull up piece)
  • 2 1/4 inch circle punch – white cardstock
  • 2 1/2 inch circle punch – black cardstock
  • Senitment/s (I used MFT Birthday Greeting)

Instructions:

  • Stick your DSP panel to the black panel, making sure you get adhesive all over the centre of the DSP not just the edges
  • On the short edge line the DSP/black panel at 8.5cm and cut between the 2cm and 12.8cm measurements on your cutter
  • Rotate the panel  180 degrees and repeat
  • On the long edge, place the panel in your trimmer, ensure the bottom of the card is at 2cm, cut between the 2 lines you just cut – the bottom of your panel should be on the left hand side of the blade
  • Rotate the panel 180 degrees and score at 2cm, 6.5cm and 11cm between the 2 cut lines only
  • Turn the panel over, front facing down and apply red tape between the 2 cut lines close to the bottom score line
  • Line up the tab panel with the edge of the flap and ensure that it’s centred between the 2 sides of the card – adhere to the red tape
  • Stamp your sentiment on the tab before sealing the DSP panel to the card base
  • It you want to cover something with a bit of dimension like a gift card, as I did, then mount the DSP panel with some dimensionals
  • Staple the ribbon to the top of your tab
  • Decorate the circles with sentiments of another image and you’re done

Here’s what my card looks like when all the pieces are put together:

MUSE Challenge

I haven’t had much of a chance to be crafty this past week or so as I’ve been busy ferrying Miss K around between school, netball, choir and Tournament of the Minds practice. Somewhere in between I had to go to work! I finally found myself an hour to make a card and was inspired to play along with the current MUSE challenge featuring a card from Kim.

MUSE280_logo.jpg

I was inspired by Kim’s central focus on the birds on the branch and the colours of her card. I used the squirrel and leave images from a set called ‘Autumnal Treasures’ and water coloured them in with my Prisma water-colour inks. I mounted him on a contrasting green oval piece and popped the sentiment up with a bit of twine for good measure.

I think this little guy is super cute eating his nut.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

WWC184 – Helen’s “All About Holidays’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Helen is out host this week with a holiday card challenge. You can choose any holiday of your liking; Christmas, Easter, New Years, Father’s Day – you get the picture.

35401100_10215629110216198_4209092547357704192_n

Me, I chose Christmas – I make and send about 100 cards at Christmas so need to get cracking with adding to my stash. Now, anyone who’s been following my blog will know that I like a bit of snark on my cards and the ‘Crazy cats’ stamp set from Tim Holzt certainly lends itself to a bit of snark! I used a sentiment from The Cat’s Pajamas ‘N-7874″ where I crossed out the word ‘naughty’ and added my own word of ‘good’ as clearly this cat wouldn’t be getting any gifts if he was naughty!

The cat, hat and gifts were coloured in with my Stampin Blends in Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Smokey Slate. I added a bit of puffy paint for the hat edged and pom-pom.

WWC183 – Gail’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This time Gail has us creating a masculine card, which is not my forte but I’m trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and get my ‘boy hat’ on!

35193495_10215629106616108_5298756214555934720_n.jpg

I used a stamp set from Clear Impressions called ‘For the Boys’ which has some great boy images and sentiments. I stamped the motorbike in Momento Black ink and used my Scan’n’Cut to cut it out, after I had coloured it with my Stampin Blends in Cherry Cobbler and Smokey Slate. I then popped it up with some dimensionals on some white and red cardstock with a bit of miscellaneous DSP that looks like metal. I then stamped the sentiment and popped it on some matching layers and the card was done.
