Well I couldn’t sleep last night so decided to take advantage of my insomnia and make some more cards!

First up is a card for 2 challenges:

• CAS(e) This Sketch #489
• Just Us Girls #465

I loved the simplicity of the sketch, so created a simple OLC using CAS-ual Fridays ‘Love Notes’ stamped in black and red inks.

Told you it was simple!

Next is a card for another 2 challenges:

• The Paper Players #417 – Give Thanks
• AAA Cards #127 – Kindness

I wanted to make a card to give to one of my mother’s good friends who has been a pillar of support to me and my mum while my mum is on her cancer journey, without her I don’t think either of us would be coping well right now.

I was inspired by a card I saw over on Su Mohr’s blog but changed up the sentiment, colours and papers. I used a Stampin Up set called ‘Hand Delivered’ and Painted Blooms DSP. I did some paper piecing for the skirt and die cut the remaining THNKS from the DSP. The flowers were coloured with my Stampin Blends in Blackberry Bliss and Pink Pirouette.

Now for something a little bit lighter….. a card for 2 more challenges:

• The Sisterhood of Crafters – Share a little humor
• MUSE – Christmas Visions #112

I love the blue and white colour scheme and little bird on Becca’s card at MUSE Christmas Visions so used these as the basis for my card. I used a bird from Katzelkraft’s set ‘Les Piafs Russes’ and hat from Stampers Anonymous “Crazy Things’ which I water coloured in, added some puffy paint for the trim, created the sentiment I created on my PC and added a vellum swirly leaf. This birdie makes me smile.

Hello there – today I had a few hours to myself to get into my craft room and managed to make 3 cards after a number of false starts.

My first card is for the challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches.

This week it’s a colour and sketch challenge. I used one of my favourite sets by Simon Says Stamp called ‘Beautiful Flowers’ which I stamped in black on an ink smooshed background panel. I used Stampin Up inks in Gumball Green and Midnight Muse and mounted the floral panel on some Raspberry Ripple card stock.

Next up is a masculine card for The Male Room Challenge to use tools on your card.

I used a set from Stampin Up called ‘Nailed it’ and created an image that looks like the hammer is in slow motion (4th dimension stamping). Nice and simple. I coloured the hammer in with my Stampin Blends in Midnight Muse.

Lastly is a card for the current Seize the Birthday challenge with a toppings theme of foliage.

I used a leaf background stamp from Penny Black called ‘Fronds’ which is inked in Catherine Pooler Designs Grass Skirt ink on an ink smooshed background panel of Lime Rickey. The sentiment is from Altenew called ‘Label Love” stamped in black and mounted with foam tape.

I really like how this one came out – it feels very tropical.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. This week being the 5th week of the month is an anything goes challenge.  You can make a card, a 3D project, a tag; you get the idea!

I decided to make a 3D card. I’ve seen quite a few of these around on Pinterest and thought I’d give it a go. It’s a pull-up card. It looks difficult but it’s really all about cutting, planning and then glueing!

I used Stampin Up inks in Pool Party. Tempting Turquiose, Island Indigo and Basic Black; Sycamore Street DSP; card stock in Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White and Watercolor Wings stamp set. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays ‘Bold Wishes’.

To make this card you’ll need:

• 4 pieces of 2″ x 12″ cardstock for your concertina strips
• Score along the 12″ side at 2″, 4″, 6″, 8″ & 10″
• 20 pieces of  1.3/4 x 1.3/4 plain card to mat
• 16 pieces of 1.1/2 x 1.1/2 of pattern paper to layer on top
• 4 pieces pf 1.1/2 x 1.1/2 pieces of white paper for the sentiments
• 1 piece of 6.1/4 x 6.1/4 cardstock for your base
• 1 piece of 6 x 6 pattern paper to layer on top of your base
• 2 pieces of 7/8 x 3.1/4 strips to hold your card together
• Some small circle die cuts to finish off the top where your ribbon will go
• Approximately 12″ of ribbon and the same of twine.

Assembly steps:

• I glued the little square pieces (plain cardstock, DSP and sentiment white cardstock) onto the concertina strips before I assembled it
• Glue the concertina pieces to the underside of your DSP square and then glue this piece to your plain cardstock base
• Then glue the 2 pieces of 7/8 x 3.1/4 together first then glue them down under the concertina strips at the top
• Punch a hole in the circles and push the ribbon through to hang it
• Then add the butterflies to the twine and glue the twine under the concertina top and bottom. You don’t need to do this bit but I thought it added some fun to the centre of the card.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and I’m the host this week with an all about holiday challenge.

For my card I went with a Halloween theme card. I love the colours of Halloween and am very happy that us Aussies now seem to be celebrating Halloween more, it’s such a fun holiday.

I used a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘If the hat fits’ which has some fabulous sentiments that are just that little bit cheeky. I sponged a circle to represent the moon in Distress Oxide inks of Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves. I then heat embossed the sentiment over the top. I coloured the hat with some pencils, fussy cut it out and mounted it across the moon. Finally I added some sequins to look like stars in the sky.

Today I’m playing with some new Stampin Up sets that arrived in the mail on Friday.

First up is a card for the current MUSE challenge where Kim provided the card to CASE.

I loved Kim’s colour scheme and layout so decided to use those aspects when creating my card. I used the Stampin Up First Frost stamp set inked up in Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive which I fussy cut. The sentiment I stamped onto a banner mounted on some Old Olive cardstock. I dry embossed a Whisper White panel using the new Tin Tile embossing folder, then assembled all the components in the opposite corner to Kim’s card.

Next is my card for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I love this sketch, so simple and helped my keep my card super CAS.

I used a Stampin Up set called “Picked for You” inked up in Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green and Soft Suede. I stamped the two apples and then fussy cut them out and added the sentiment and apples to a Whisper White card base and the card was done!

I’ll soon be needing this card with Miss K coming to the end of Grade 6 and her primary school years.

Next up is a Christmas card using the colour scheme from the current CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.

I used a Stampin Up set called ‘Beautiful Baubles’ which I inked smooshed Lovely Lipstick and Blushing Bride, then stamped the bauble and sentiment in Gray Granite. I fussy cut out the bauble, added some Lovely Lipstick ribbon and popped up the bauble with dimensionals and the card was done.

I love the look of this card and think the non-traditional colours are beautiful.

Today I tried a turnabout stamp and inked it up with 4 Catherine Pooler Design inks in Rockin’ Red, Lime Rickey, Something Borrowed and Fiesta Blue. I added my stamped panel onto a black card base with some black and white twine. I’m pretty happy with how this card turned out.

It’s springtime here in Melbourne and the sun in shining; I love this time of year, the temperature is in the mid 20’s, the sun is out with a light breeze – perfect.

So why am I in my craft room? Well I needed a bit of quite time after Miss K’s netball games this morning in the sun and before I join my extended family for a BBQ.

I was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch and MUSE Challenge card by the lovely Tracey McNealy.

I loved the main circle image on both layouts with some feature images on each; so die cut a gold metal piece into a circle rim. I ten stamped up the tress from the Clearly Besotted ‘Modern CHristmas’ set using Catherine Pooler Designs Lime Rickey ink and a sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s ‘Mondo Holly set’ in Momento Black ink.

My second card is for the challenges over at CASology and Little Red Wagon.

I’ve been having fun creating alcohol ink spot cards lately – I love how they can highlight the beauty of the inks. I chose to make another card in this style in blue and purple and added a sentiment from Power Poppy called ‘Big Scripts’.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  The lovely Charlotte is up this week with an all about occasions challenge.

My card today was originally going to be a welcome baby card but when I thought a bit more I don’t have anyone to send a baby card to so I modified my design to be a birthday card for a young girl.

I used a stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays called ‘Somebunny’ which I stamped and coloured with my Stampin Blends in Pink Pirouette and Crumb Cake. I also stamped the background piece using the ‘Hardwood’ stamp from Stampin Up. I added a little bit of scallop edged card under my bunny image which I just think adds to the cuteness of this card and the ribbon bow on the left provides some balance.

arning warning warning – this is a long post – LOL!

I love WCMD events. They help me in getting my creative hat on.

This weekend I’ve been playing along with the WCMD challenges over on Stamp Nation with Catherine Pooler and her fabulous creative team plus I thought I’d try to tie them into my usual crafty challenges I join.

First up is a card for England. Catherine created a mood board for inspiration and I used the current CASology theme of gratitude for my sentiment.

I was inspired by the chalkboard outside the shop for my card. I used an Altenew set called ‘You Are’ for my image on the blackboard and a variety of Stampin Up DSPs for the banner.

Next up is Hungary. Kelly provided the mood board for this one and I’m also tying this into the current challenges over at Muse Christmas Visions with Cornelia’s card and The Male Room challenge.

I was inspired by the Hungarian flag colours in Kelly’s board, the trees in Cornelia’s card and the outdoor theme in the Male Room challenge. I made my own tree stamp with a die cut and some foam which I inked up in Catherine Pooler inks in Garden Party, Lime Rickey and Grass Skirt and spritzed with water after stamping. The merry die is from Stampin Up.

Next up is a card for Portugal. This time we have a mood board from Mel. I’m combining this card with the sketch challenge over at MFT and the theme at Just Add Ink to add vellum to your card.

I love the palm trees and greens in Mel’s board so created a bit of a background piece of inked smooshed greens and then added my vellum panel over the top matching the sketch (which I flipped upside down) with a hammock and palm trees die replacing the sentiment.

Next up is a card for Hawaii, inspired by Laurel’s mood board and the sketch over at Case this Sketch.

I love the sunset photo, so thought I’d create a bit of sunset in the banner area of the sketch. I used all the oranges in the Catherine Pooler ink range and a sentiment from the MFT ‘All About You’ set.

Next up is a mood board for Canada by the lovely Susan. I was inspired by the birds on the totem poles so think I can also link my card to the October CAS Christmas challenge which is all about birds. Last time I visited Canada it was snowing so I’ve added a snowflake to my card as well.

I used a bird from Katzelkraft ‘Les Piafs Russes’ with a santa hat from Tim Holtz ‘Crazy Things’ which I watercoloured and added some pufy paint to the trim on the hat. I then ink smooshed a die cut snowflake for my bird to sit on.

Next on the WCMD challenge is Italy inspired by a mood board by Ingrid. I’m linking this card up with the current challenge over at CAS on Ftidays which is all about a thank you card.

I love the picture of the lemons, so went to a stamp set by Altenew called ‘Main Squeeze’ and my Stampin Up inks in the yellow family. I love how simple and bright this card it.

Next up is my card for the Macedonia mood board created by Ilina. I was inspired by the orange and yellow in the national flag of Macedonia. I went straight for my alcohol inks and created a background piece, I dabbed dots of the blending solution to mimic the look of  the sunrays and then a bit of gold Nuvo flakes for some bling. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays called ‘Woot woot’.

Lastly for this very long post is a card for Switzerland with a mood board by Erika and I think my card will also fit the challenge over at The Paper Players. I love Erika’s pictures showcasing the beautiful trees and mountains of Switzerland and certaily have it on my bucket list to visit.

I heat embossed an image from Darkroom Door called ‘Central Park’ which is messily water coloured, mounted on some green and then black cardstock and added a bit of twine to balance the layout. I’ll be adding this card to my male card stash.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. The lovely Gail is our host of a feminine anything goes challenge.

I went for a rather simple, yet I think, classy look for my card.  I used a long forgotten Stampin Up stamp called ‘En Francais’, it’s a gorgeous script stamp and I think perfect for this challenge. I stamped it in black on SU Whisper White cardstock. Trimmed it down and mounted on a panel of SU Lovely Lipstick cardstock then Basic Black cardbase. I added some SU Lovely Lipstick ribbon for that finishing feminine touch.
