Get Creative Challenges – August – Anything Goes

I have used an image from Drawn by Krista called ‘Sea Creatures’ that comes with 4 images; a shark, octupus, seahorse and fish. I decided to use the shark only and coloured him in with my Stampin Blends, cut him out with my Scan’n’Cut and popped him on top of a distress inked background. The sentiment I made on my PC – I recommend you read it as if you’re listening to the movie Jaws!

Challenge fun

Hello there, it’s Sunday here in Melbourne and that means I’m in my craft room while the rest of the house is sleeping in! I love the quiet time to be able to create and get myself ready for the week ahead.

My first card is for the current Freshly Made Sketches #399 challenge.

When I saw this sketch, I knew exactly the stamp set i wanted to use – Your Next Stamp’s ‘Photo Booth’. I die cut some squares from my frint panel and stamped 3 of the images on the background card, then coloured them with my Stampin Blends, added the sentiment to the top panel and mu9nted it with foam tape.

Aren’t these guys cheeky?

Next up is a card for TGIF Challenges #223, which is a beautiful colour challenge.

I used a stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays called ‘Be a Unicorn’ which lends itself beautifully to this colour combination. I stamped the unicron and then ink smooshed the colours over her, added the sentiment, a bit of gold ink to the horn, then mounted the panel on a white card base and the card was done.

Well, seems like the rest of the house is waking up so time to pack up my crafty goodies.

Just Us Girls – #499 – Word Week – Summer

Well hello and welcome to today’s post. For the month of August I am a Guest Designer over at Just Us Girls. I’m so excited as I love their challenges and can’t wait for you to see what I and the other DTs will be creating over the next 5 weeks!

So, let’s get started with this week’s challenge, which is a word challenge – SUMMER!

Now, I wasn’t feeling very summery as we’re in the middle of winter here and everything is grey and cold, but my favourite thing about summer is being able to wear my thongs (or as they’re called in the US flip flops) and walk along the beach.

I stamped the thongs from the Simon Says Stamp set called ‘Flip Flop Season’, coloured them in with my SU Granny Apple Green Stampin Blend and fussy cut them out. I then added some beach with some sand I had in my stash and a sentiment from ‘By the Seaside’ which came with a craft magazine.

WWC #232 – Marsha’s ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

I created a rainbow alcohol ink panel and then die cut a sentiment from the centre. I popped up the outside piece to provide some depth. I mounted all pieces onto a black card base.

A super easy but so pretty card.

Feminine Fancies

Today’s post is all about feminine cards.

First up is a card for:

I used a stamp set called ‘Bright & Breezy’ from Stamps by Chloe that came with a craft magazine. It has some fun images and sayings which were perfect for these challenges. I stamped the bra, coloured it with my Stampin Blends and fussy cut it out. Added it to my card base with the sentiment and I was done.

Next is a card for a new to me challenge – Cutie Pie Challenges #137 – Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

I used a astamp set I got with a craft magazine called ‘Best Friends’ which I coloured with my Stampin Blends on a stitched die cut panel.

This next card is for CAS on Friday #162 – Use a stencil.

I created an OLC with Altenew’s Layered Dahlia stencil and Catherine Pooler Designs inks in Rose Petal and Peppermint Scrub. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions ‘Simply Strips’.

Masculine Makes

This weekend, I decided to focus on making masculine cards.

My first card is for:

Now, a snowboard might be a stretch for the transport theme but it can get you from A (the top of the mountain) to B (the bottom of the mountain). I printed the snowboarder from an old SU digital image and then fussy cut it out. I added it to a panel with some ink smooshing and puffy paint to look like snow. The sentiment is from Pretty Cute Stamps called ‘Super sentiments’ and fits nicely.

Next up is a card for:

This was a cute sketch to play with and I decided to make a new baby card using a cute bee hive and buzzing bees. I had these guys as digital images on my PC, so printed them out, coloured them in , fussy cut them out, mounted them with foam tape and my card was done.

Next up is a card for:

I used a digital stamp I’ve had for a while From the Heart Stamps called ‘Surf’s Up Birdbrain’. I printed it and coloured it with my Stampin Blends and added some puffy pain for the foam of the waves. I love this cheeky chick!

WWC #231 – Tristan’s ‘ All About Occasions’ Challenge

Today I used a new stamp set from Stampin Up called ‘Floral Essence’ which I inked up in the SU ink colours of Rococo rose, Terracotta tile, Granny apple green and So saffron.

I just love how this card came out and I have a friend in mind to send this to that could do with some cheering up.

More Challenge Cards

Well hello there, I’ve been in my craft room again getting ready for a card class I’m holding tomorrow. I like to mix up the cards the girls will make so think these 3 are all very different, yet easy considering we chat alot when we meet.

First up is a card for:

I cut out the 3 square layers and laid them out following the sketch and then stamped my floral image from Concord & 9th ‘Hello lovely’ stamp over the 3 layers. I then coloured the bottom layer and the top layer only, so when I put it back together it has a bit of a spotlight effect.

Next up is a card for Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge – anything goes optional wings.

I used my SU ‘Swallowtail’ butterfly image, inked up with a variety of blue SU markers and then spritzed with water. I love this stamp and it will always remain in my stash.

Lastly is my card for the following challenges:

I kept this card super CAS, using a SU die bauble cut from gold glitter paper and then mounted on white and gold shimmer cardstock with a bit of gold thread to hang it.

Weekend Makes

I’ve had a busy start to the weekend – Miss K had 2 netball games (lost 1, won 1), lots of cooking to get ready for the next week, laundry, watching the World Cup Netball and some crafting – I think I need to go back to work for a rest!

My first card is for the following challenges:

I went to my alcohol inks for my card and created a rainbow panel that I then lifted the ink with my sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays ‘Whole Shebang’.

I love how bright this card is.

Next up is a card for The Flower Challenge #34.

Pastels are not my usual style but when using stamps from Altenew, they work beautifully. I used ‘Garden Treasures’ and some SU inks. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves and then layered them along the edge with a bit of an overlap.

I’m really happy with how this card turned out.

This next card suits the sketch challenge over at The Global Design Project #198.

I used some SU DSP – Magnolia Lane and Perenial Essence – I fussy cut a few of the magnolias and layered them behind the sentiment panel. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays ‘Breathe’. I added a few pearls to match the ribbon element in the sketch.

My next card is for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #139 – J is for Joke.

I know I don’t actually have a joke on my card, but I am being a bit tongue in cheek! I printed the sentiment and knickers on my PC and then coloured using my Stampin Blends; fussy cut them out and added some pearls.

I have a friend that I love dearly that inspired this card sentiment!

WWC #230 – Kath’s Masculine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Kath is our host with masculine anything goes challenge this week!

I went to my new Stampin Up ‘Sailing home’ stamp set and did a bit of mirror stamping with the small sailboat image so they were traveling in the same direction as the big boats. I coloured the bats in with my Stampin Blends and then die cut them out. I used a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp called ‘sailing’.

They look kind of like their racing don’t they?
