I haven’t had much of a chance to be crafty this past week or so as I’ve been busy ferrying Miss K around between school, netball, choir and Tournament of the Minds practice. Somewhere in between I had to go to work! I finally found myself an hour to make a card and was inspired to play along with the current MUSE challenge featuring a card from Kim.

I was inspired by Kim’s central focus on the birds on the branch and the colours of her card. I used the squirrel and leave images from a set called ‘Autumnal Treasures’ and water coloured them in with my Prisma water-colour inks. I mounted him on a contrasting green oval piece and popped the sentiment up with a bit of twine for good measure.

I think this little guy is super cute eating his nut.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Helen is out host this week with a holiday card challenge. You can choose any holiday of your liking; Christmas, Easter, New Years, Father’s Day – you get the picture.

Me, I chose Christmas – I make and send about 100 cards at Christmas so need to get cracking with adding to my stash. Now, anyone who’s been following my blog will know that I like a bit of snark on my cards and the ‘Crazy cats’ stamp set from Tim Holzt certainly lends itself to a bit of snark! I used a sentiment from The Cat’s Pajamas ‘N-7874″ where I crossed out the word ‘naughty’ and added my own word of ‘good’ as clearly this cat wouldn’t be getting any gifts if he was naughty!

The cat, hat and gifts were coloured in with my Stampin Blends in Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Smokey Slate. I added a bit of puffy paint for the hat edged and pom-pom.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This time Gail has us creating a masculine card, which is not my forte but I’m trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and get my ‘boy hat’ on!

I used a stamp set from Clear Impressions called ‘For the Boys’ which has some great boy images and sentiments. I stamped the motorbike in Momento Black ink and used my Scan’n’Cut to cut it out, after I had coloured it with my Stampin Blends in Cherry Cobbler and Smokey Slate. I then popped it up with some dimensionals on some white and red cardstock with a bit of miscellaneous DSP that looks like metal. I then stamped the sentiment and popped it on some matching layers and the card was done.

It’s been a while since I’ve played with the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge but when I say this one, I knew I had to get inky.

I got out my Catherine Pooler Design inks and used all the shades from the Party Ink Collection. I used a new to me stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘Make Your Mark’ in a diagonal to form my background. I then inked up the ‘Celebrate’ stamp from CAS-ual Fridays across the bottom, added some black and white twine, mounted the piece on some black cardstock for contrast before mounting on the final white card base and I was done.

What do you think? FUn right!

We are having a glorious sunny winters day here in Melbourne, which inspired me to play along with the current CASology challenge.

For my card I used a stamp set from PTI called “Hello Sunshine” which I stamped in the new Stampin Up colour ‘Pineapple Punch’.

Super simple to create, I’m off to enjoy the sunshine now – thanks for looking and have a great day.

I find myself in need of a number of birthday cards this weekend.

First up is for my friend’s hubby’s 50th (which is tonight). I made a z-fold style card, which I think fits the challenges at The Male Room #91 and Little Red Wagon – Get (Inter) Active. #458.

I used the Stampin Up set ‘Bubble Over’ and ‘Freestyle Stripes’ by The Ton. I matched the inks to the card stock in Stampin Up Gray Granite, Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lime Twist.

Second is a card for my mum, I got a bit snarky and want her to know that despite her cancer diagnosis with her attitude she’ll live to be an old woman! I was inspired by the current challenge over at Shopping Our Stash #366 , which was to use a silhouette on a card.

I used a stamp set from Unity Stamps called ‘No Regrets’ which I stamped in basic black on some white card stock, mounted on a couple of pieces of misc. DSP added the sentiment and the card was done. This lady is just as sassy as my mum.

Thirdly is a card for my longest known friend; we meet in kindergarten and are still friends some 48 years later! (does that give our age away?) I thought the challenge at AAA Cards #121 – Friendship was a pretty good one to inspire my card theme and the Global Design Project #150 sketch inspired my layout.

I used a stamp set I got with a crafting magazine by Debbi Moore Designs called ‘Hello Gorgeous’. I stamped and coloured the perfume bottles with my Stampin Blends in Mint Macaron, Poppy Parade and Smoky Slate.  I added a bit of misc. DSP for some background effect and the card was done.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. This week I’m the host and my challenge is All About Occasions.  I chose Father’s Day for my occasion, as in the blink of an eye it will be September and Father’s Day here in Australia.

I decided to go with a One Layer Card and did a bit of masking with my main image. I used a stamp set from Clear Impressions called ‘For the Boys’ which has some great images for creating masculine cards and it made this card a breeze to make.

I stamped the tool box in Momento Black ink and coloured it with my Stampin Blends. I then masked the image off and stamped a variety of the sentiments from the same set in SU Blueberry Bushel ink; removed the mask and the card was done!

I think my hubby will appreciate this card when he receives it.

Yep, I’m another year older today! So what’s a gal to do on her birthday? Craft of course!

My first card today is for the Less is More challenge to use pets on a card.

My card emulates the look on my cat Oscar’s face this morning, where he was like ‘what? it’s not all about me today?’ He’s a funny ginger boy who thinks the household revolves around him – but not today buddy boy!

I stamped an image from Katzelkraft and water coloured him in to look like Oscar, I then created my sentiments on my PC and used speech bubble dies to highlight them. I kept it very CAS on a black card base and the card was done.

Next up is a card for the CAS Christmas challenge. I love challenges that inspire me to add to my Christmas card stash – I think I now have about 20 cards towards my 100 requirement.

I used a stamp set from Altenew called ‘Sketched evergreen” which I stamped in Catherine Pooler inks in Melon Ice, Garden Party and Lime Rickey. I cut a thinner panel with the tree on it, slightly shaping my panel around the tree edge and mounted it on a bit of gold cardstock.

I love this stamp set and will be making more cards for my stash with it.

Guess what? I’ve been asked to join the Design Team over at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge – amazing right. I was so excited to get Heidi’s email. I love their challenges and have probably played along with more than 20 of them so to be a DT member and inspire others to get creative based on my cards is such an honour.

The challenge today is one from Kath and it’s a feminine anything goes challenge.

I must admit I find it much easier to make cards for females than I do males, I’m wondering if others feel the same way?

For my card I created a spotlight feature using a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘Beautiful Flowers’. I cut 2 panels, 1  smaller than the other, laid them on top of each other and stamped the floral image. I then coloured the smaller panel with my Stampin Blends in Old Olive and Calypso Coral and mounted it on dimensionals lining up the 2 images to form the complete flower. I die cut the happy sentiment using an MFT die and handwrote the birthday sentiment; added a few sequins and then mounted it all on a white card base.

I love the effect this technique creates and it’s such an easy type of card to make.

I feel very blessed to have been chosen as this week’s MUSE guest designer. I’ve played along with MUSE challenges many times and I love being inspired by other fabulous paper crafters, so I hope that you find inspiration from my card.

For my card, I used a Stampin Up set called ‘Painted Harvest’ which I stamped using Catherine Pooler Design inks in Lime Rickey, Grass Skirt, All That Jazz and Fiesta Blue. I cut out the flower and leaves using my new to me Scan’n’Cut (OMGeeee I’ll be using that machine so much more) and mounted them on a square frame and base panel which was embossed using a Stampin Up Sizzex folder. I added some linen thread to fill the space and added a sentiment from Clearly Besotted.
