I had fun creating for the following challenges today:

• Shopping Our Stash #326 – That’s sketchy!
• Try Stamping on Tuesday #345 – Sketch or Halloween
• Water Cooler Challenge #142 – All About Christmas
• CASology #272 – Cherish

I’m submitting Card 1 for the first 3 challenges.

For the SOS challenge, I chose to use the sketch from the TST challenge. I white embossed the poinsettia image on water-colour paper and then smooshed the CP inks (where I got overlap from the green it’s giving a bit of an orange hue), then I cut out the shapes to match the sketch, added some black to mount each piece and then assembled them all onto the white card base with some dimensionals behind the circle bit.

• Inks – Catherine Pooler Designs Rockin’ Red and Lime Rickey
• Cardstock – Stampin’ up Whisper White, Basic Black & watercolour paper

I’m submitting card 2 for the CASology challenge as I feel that at Christmas time we should all cherish our family and friends; it is a time to show them all how much they mean to us.

Supplies:

• Stampin Up ‘Wonderland’ and The Ton ‘Poinsettia Close-up’
• Inks – Catherine Pooler Designs Rockin’ Red, Orange Twist and Lime Rickey
• Cardstock – Stampin’ up Whisper White & watercolour paper
• Misc – white embossing powder, ruby-red gems, dimensionals

I gold embossed the poinsettia image on water-colour paper and then smooshed the CP inks, then I stamped, embossed and cut out the sentiment banner and then assembled them all onto the white card base with some dimensionals behind the circle sentiment.

Today I’m playing along with a theme challenge from AAA Cards #101 – Inspired by a film.

After having a look at the DT cards for the  challenge, I realised you could be quite interpretative with the film inspiration, so I went to a favourite sentiment set by CAS-ual Fridays called “Frankly” which this specific one reminded my of the film “Gone with the Wind” and the memorable mansion fire scene, which I represented with Distress Ink sponged on the panel in Candied Apple and Spiced Marmalade, which to me sort of looks like the colours of the flames.

I finished off my cards with some black and white twine from The Twinery and a few accents that look like raindrops.

Today’s card has a Halloween feel to it. I played along with challenges from Shopping Our Stash #325 – the Walking Dead and Less is More #351 – Monsters.

 

I have rediscovered my alcohol inks after watching a Jennifer McGuire video.

For this card, I used my alcohol inks to make the background piece (sunset orange & sunshine yellow). I then printed a digital pumpkin face image onto the background and voila my card was made!

I know my pumpkin face is not your traditional walking dead/monster but I think he’s pretty scary looking.

I love sketch challenges as half the work is done for you. I also love being given a colour scheme, so of course I played along with 2 challenges that fit this description -> CAS(e) this Sketch #244 and Color throwdown #CTD465.

I had a left-over alcohol ink background piece (Purple Twilight & Raspberry) that was perfect for the color throwdown challenge. And I had a new to me stamp set from The Ton called “Sunnies’ that were perfect for the CAS(e) this sketch challenge. I stamped the sunnies in Catherine Pooler Design Black Jack ink, added some Wink of Stella and then fussy cut them out and added a transparency sheet behind to look like real glass (sorry, you can’t really see it in the pic) and then popped them up on the background piece and added the sentiment banner at the bottom.

Today my card is inspired by 2 challenges – CAS-ual Fridays #185 theme and Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC480 sketch.

CAS-ual Fridays challenge ‘Think pink for breast cancer awareness’ which is very close to me heart as one of my dear friends was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has had the surgery and now awaits the pathology results to determine the next steps in her treatment. Her diagnosis prompted me to get my scan and I breathed a sigh of relief when I got the ‘don’t come back and see us for another 2 years email’. I encourage every female to check and if unsure get the scan.

I used a CAS_ual Fridays stamp set and matching dies called ‘Wallflower’, Catherine Pooler Designs inks – It’s a Girl, Party Dress, Rockin’ Red & Black Jack

I die cut the front panel with the smallest Wallflower die, then I sponged the background with the CP inks. I stamped the sentiment on a banner and sponged a couple of the die cut flowers, added a bit of clear Wink of Stella  and mounted them on the sentiment.

I then popped up the front layer with some dimensions and I was done!

Another day, another challenge!

This time I’m playing along with a new to me challenge blog – Craft Rocket Challenges #42 where you can create a card with a birthday or pretty pinks theme. I decided to do both – twice!

For my 1st card I used a Stampin Up stamp set called “Text Ya Later” which I stamped Basic Black and Berry Burst on Whisper White, Old Olive & Berry Burst card stock. I then fussy cut out the text and the phone and mounted them on a bit of Pop of Pink DSP.

For my 2nd card, I’ve stretched the idea of pink with my little pink piggy which is from Simon Says Stamp called “Farm Animals”. I water coloured him with my Zig markers and stamped the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps called “Shenanigans”.

Today I played along with 3 challenges that have a One Layer Card focus. Inkspirational Challenges #145 Designer’s Choice, Less is More Challenge #350 OLC Stars and Creative Friday Challenge #190.

For this card, I thought I’d do some masked sponging to create layers. I used a misc. set of star dies, a MFT stamp set called “Bold Sentiments’ (now retired),  Catherine Pooler Designs inks in Black Jack, Sweet Sixteen, Pixie Dust, Flirty Fuchsia. Firstly I die cut the stars from some masking paper and masked each star and sponged the inks for each star, then stamped the sentiment, added a sponged black stripe and some black sequins for that final bit of pop.

Today I’ve played along with 2 challenges at Tic Tac Toe Challenge #19 (I chose the line of coffee, gold & pumpkin) and Just Us Girls #415 (Window/Peek-a-boo card).

I took some liberties with the use of pumpkin and decided to use that in my sentiment rather than an image or colour – LOL.

I used a stamp and matching die set from Stampin Up called “Coffee Cafe”. I die cut out the largest coffee container and filled it up with some gold sprinkles from PTI that I got in a kit some time ago.

I then created the sentiment on my PC using a font called “Dancing Jungle” and then I tied some gold thread to the top for balance.

I had a lot of time crafting this weekend as Miss K (my daughter) spent the weekend at her Grandma’s house. They love having time together and they were going to see the theater production of Aladdin.

Here’s just a few cards that I made.

Card #1 – I played along with the current Muse #237 challenge where I was inspired by how Tracey just coloured a portion of her stamped flower image and stamped her sentiment in the bottom left corner for balance.

I used a stamp set from Concord & 9th called “Hello Lovely” and created a bit of a highlight effect with the mounted popped up coloured piece of the flower. I used Stampin Up inks in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo & Old Olive.

Card #2 – I played along with 2 challenges from Merry Monday #260 which was a sketch and Christmas Card Challenges #23 which was a photo inspiration. I loved the simplicity of the sketch and the colours of the inspiration photo and I really really need to get started on my Christmas card stash.

I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire in her recent YouTube video using alcohol inks and remembered I hadn’t used mine in ages; so out they came (Ranger Purple Twilight & Raspberry). I then stamped and gold embossed the middle tree from the Altenew Sketched Evergreen stampset, added from gold Stampin Up thread and Merry Music DSP for the bottom layer. I know I should have used silver embossing powder, but had done the gold before I realised it and I love the background too much to not continue with the card. After a long couple of days at work, I really needed to craft to help reset my mind and help me relax.

So I went to my challenges emails and here are the results of my efforts 🙂

Card #1 – I played along with the challenge over on The Ton with a fabulous mood board. I was inspired by the colours of the flowers and the heart image in the board.

I used a gorgeous set called ‘Marvelous Perfumes’ and stamped 2 of the bottles and gold embossed then roughly colouring in with my Zig markers. I added some gold thread in a messy pile and added them to a cream heart doily.

Card #2 – I played along with 2 challenges; CAS-ual Fridays Stamps  sketch and The Card Concept inspiration photo.  I was inspired by the colours of the photo, the creams and subtle blues and the sketch layout lead itself to a clean and layered style card.

I used CAS-ual Fridays stamp set called ‘Loving Thoughts” which I white heat embossed on vellum and then coloured the back with my blue Zig marker; dimensionals, a pearl and some gold tape finish the card off.

I’m feeling pretty relaxed now, so might head off to bed.
