Weekend Makes

I’ve had a busy start to the weekend – Miss K had 2 netball games (lost 1, won 1), lots of cooking to get ready for the next week, laundry, watching the World Cup Netball and some crafting – I think I need to go back to work for a rest!

My first card is for the following challenges:

I went to my alcohol inks for my card and created a rainbow panel that I then lifted the ink with my sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays ‘Whole Shebang’.

I love how bright this card is.

Next up is a card for The Flower Challenge #34.

Pastels are not my usual style but when using stamps from Altenew, they work beautifully. I used ‘Garden Treasures’ and some SU inks. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves and then layered them along the edge with a bit of an overlap.

I’m really happy with how this card turned out.

This next card suits the sketch challenge over at The Global Design Project #198.

I used some SU DSP – Magnolia Lane and Perenial Essence – I fussy cut a few of the magnolias and layered them behind the sentiment panel. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays ‘Breathe’. I added a few pearls to match the ribbon element in the sketch.

My next card is for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #139 – J is for Joke.

I know I don’t actually have a joke on my card, but I am being a bit tongue in cheek! I printed the sentiment and knickers on my PC and then coloured using my Stampin Blends; fussy cut them out and added some pearls.

I have a friend that I love dearly that inspired this card sentiment!

Well, that’s it for today. Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

WWC #230 – Kath’s Masculine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Kath is our host with masculine anything goes challenge this week!

I went to my new Stampin Up ‘Sailing home’ stamp set and did a bit of mirror stamping with the small sailboat image so they were traveling in the same direction as the big boats. I coloured the bats in with my Stampin Blends and then die cut them out. I used a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp called ‘sailing’.

They look kind of like their racing don’t they?

4 cards 11 challenges – again!

I can’t believe my crafting has again resulted on 4 cards that fit 11 challenges – it probably helps with the Christmas themes if a few of them!

First up:

I inked up a stamp set from Altenew called ‘Main squeeze’ using inks from Catherine Pooler Designs. I think the yellows give the card a lovely sunshiny feel and this will go to a friend who always has a sunny outlook on life for her birthday!

Next is a card for 5 challenges:

For my card, I masked off and sponged a circle with a soft grey. I coloured and fussy cut my Santa from the Stamping Up ‘Signs of Santa’ set and stamped the sentiment along the edge of the circle.

Next up is a card for:

I created an alcohol ink panel with a stripe feel and then stamped the sentiment from Winne & Walter ‘In a word merry’ across the center matching the star image of the sketch.

I love how simple this card is.

My final card is for AAA Cards #144 – Maxi white space opt Christmas in July.

I used a panda die from Neat & Tangled to create the main portion of my card and added a felt Christmas hat over one ear for the optional aspect. I decided to leave off a sentiment to keep this clean.

Isn’t he handsome?

Well that’s it for now, thanks for looking and have a great day.

WWC #229 – Helen’s ‘All About Occasions’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Helen is our host with an all about occasions challenge this week!

I created a Wedding card for a wedding I went to on the 1st of July. For my card I used a new set from Stampin Up called ‘Butterfly wishes’ which I inked up in Catherine Pooler inks – midnight and bellini. This is a gorgeous stamp set with gives great shade to the stamps. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions ‘Simply Strips’.

I just love how this card came out and hope my friend does too.

Sweet Stampin’ Christmas – July – Christmas in the Sun!

Well, this month we have another challenge over at Sweet Stampin’ Christmas challenge blog with an optional twist to create a Christmas in the Sun project.

This is a usual type of Christmas here in Australia. I used and modified a set from MFT called ‘ Jingle all the way’ and coloured Santa in with my Stampin Blends; I used a sentiment from Stampin Up ‘So Santa’ and sponged the beach background with my Distress Oxide Inks and added a frame.

I love Santa and hope he has some sunscreen on!

Come join in our fun and add to your Christmas card stash. Visit the challenge blog to check out the inspiration the other CaSSettes have made. Link up your card by 3am 14th August (Melbourne time) or 6pm 13th August (UK time).

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

4 cards 11 challenges – what?

Sometimes the stars align and when I’m creating my cards they fit a number of challenges – well this weekend, I made 4 cards that fit 11 challenges!

First up, is a card for :

I’ve had my alcohol lift ink for a while but haven’t really been successful when using it. This time I watched a few of the videos on the CAS Mix Up blog and will be using this technique more often.

Next is a card for:

Anyone who’s followed past posts will know I love a bit of sass on my cards, so I couldn’t resist making fun of this little birdie! This sure makes me smile.

Next up is a card for:

I went with the theme of 3. I used 3 birds, 3 big flowers and 3 leaf additions coloured up in petal pink, soft sea foam and flirty flamingo Stampin Blends.

My last card is for:

I was on a roll with my AIs and tried the lift technique again but with a stencil rather than a stamp this time. The lift pad wasn’t working so well, so I used the lift re-inker and dabbed drops onto the panel in the stencil gaps and then lifted the ink off. I added a bit of gold thread for that party glitz feel. Thanks for the layout inspiration Kreative Kristie.

Well that’s it for today – thanks for looking and have a great day.

Sunshine

Today’s card is brought to you by someone desperately wanting some sunshine as it’s a dreary grey day here in Melbourne.

I’m playing along with 2 challenges that make me think sun:

For my card I used a retired die set from Stampin up to create the rainbow, clouds, lightening and sun. The sentiment is from another SU set called ‘Sprinkles of Life’. With the negative space from die cutting the clouds I sponged my background with some Pool Party ink.

I hope this card cheers you up as much as it has me. Thanks for looking and enjoy your day.

WWC #228 – Marsha’s Feminine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Marsha is our host with a feminine anything goes challenge this week!

I made this card for my Mother-in-laws birthday. I created an alcohol ink background and then placed a die cut panel on top with an embossed sentiment and a few matt layers.

I just love how this project came out.

Come join in the fun and make a feminine project. Check out the projects that the other artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created, take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Tuesday, 9th July at 10:00 Melbourne Time or Monday 8th July 5pm US Mountain Time to link up your project.

I’m also going to link this up at the current AAA Birthday Challenge #3 – for the girls.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

It’s a crafty kinda day!

Well hello there – it’s the start of school holidays here and I’ve got a bit of time to myself while Miss K is catching up on her sleep. I’m playing along with 8 challenges today – yep – you read right – but there are only 5 cards!

First up is for a pair of challenges:

I had an alcohol ink background panel in my stash, so i decided to use it for this card with a floral die that covers the whole card. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions ‘Simple Strips Background’.

I can see myself using this background panel die more often.

Next is for Time Out Challenges #138 – Funny.

I love a funny card so quickly created a card with some images I had previously coloured and cut out and added a sentiment I created on my PC.

I bet this cat wishes he hadn’t looked up!

Next is a card for The Card Concept #118 which is a photo inspiration challenge.

A used a stamp set from Uniko called ‘Happy Succulents’ which I water coloured and fussy cut out. I added another sentiment from Taylored Expressions ‘Simple Strips Background’ which I cut apart and added some diagonal stripe DSP onto a coral card base.

Next up is a card for Less is More #398 – OLC spots and Clean and Simple Friday #161 – colour challenge.

I did a bit of masking on this card to create the circle at the top and then stamped 3 sizes of dots from the MFT ‘Bokeh builder’ stamp set in the SU inks of So Saffron, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party. I then rounded 2 corners for the finishing touch.

I really like these 3 colours together.

My last card is for The Male Room Challenge #114 – multiple layers and Daring Cardmakers – Cut it up.

I recently cup up all my SU DSP so that I would start to use it and not hoard it, so these 2 challenges came at the perfect time! I used the matching DSP and stamp set from SU called ‘Geared up garage’. I did a little bit of surgery on my car image (after it was stamped) to turn it into a convertible. I used 3 DSP layers and created my sentiment on my PC. I added a bit of crystal effects to the windscreen to make it look like glass.

This will go into my masculine birthday card stash.

Well, that’s it for today. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Floral Corner Cards

Today I have a couple of cards that their design was inspired by the challenge over at AAA Cards #143 which is all about one corner with an optional floral twist.

For my card, I stamped a Penny Black background stamp ‘Poppy pattern’ inked up with Memento bamboo leaves and love letter and then covered it with a white panel with a circle portion cut out and popped up. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions called ‘Simple Strips Background’.

My second card using the same design is for Paper Craft Crew Challenges #342 which is a tic tac toe challenge where I chose the middle vertical panel and for The Sisterhood of Crafters – Any occasion.

I used a stamp from Uniko called ‘Happy Succulents’ which I water coloured in my favourite denim blue and lime green. I then used my Scan’n’Cut to ‘die cut’ it out and a sentiment from the Taylored expressions ‘Simple Strips Background’ set. I chose the sentiment of gratitude and will be sending this to a very good friend of mine who has kept me buoyed up during this tough year I’ve been having.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.
